About the Region

Serving the Hudson Valley

THINC serves the Hudson Valley area of New York, including Ulster, Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan and Orange Counties. With a total population of approximately 2.4 million, a broad spectrum of socioeconomic conditions are represented within the area, ranging from densely populated, impoverished cities to affluent suburban towns and villages to sparsely populated, isolated rural areas.

There are roughly 1,800 primary care providers, 31 hospitals and eight  federally qualified health centers serving the region. The Hudson Valley is also home to three Critical Access Hospitals.

In 2010, THINC joined Taconic IPA and MedAllies to launch the Hudson Valley Initiative, a collaborative effort to revolutionize health care delivery through a shared vision to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of health care in the community. These three organizations leverage health information technology, physician practice transformation and value-based purchasing in pursuit of care delivery that is patient-centered, coordinated, accessible, high quality, and efficiently delivered through sustainable financial models.
